Content curation has been around for a while, as this extract from a post by Tom Treanor identifies:
“My first experience with content curation was the creation of an “ultimate mixed tape,” that I created to play for my friends. In the late 70′s and early 80′s, creating the best combination of great songs from my older brother’s albums (or from the radio in some cases was one way to stand out in the always competitive, but otherwise carefree world of a teenager.”
Tom goes onto discuss how to curate content well, and mentions 6 tools which will assist the process.
To which I would add Pearltrees.
Content Curation done well as Tom says, is “a way for website and blog owners to add value to their readers whiles saving time for themselves”.
If you are using your website to market your offer online, learning to curate content well will be a ‘cool’ way forward in 2012.
